Electric vehicles (EVs) require specialized care to maintain efficiency, performance, and longevity. At McNeil's Auto Care, our skilled technicians provide professional EV maintenance and repairs using advanced diagnostic tools and manufacturer-recommended procedures.
Unlike traditional gasoline-powered cars, EVs rely on complex electrical systems, high-voltage batteries, and regenerative braking technology. Routine service ensures your vehicle remains in top condition by preventing unexpected issues and extending battery life. Our EV services include battery diagnostics, brake service, and so much more.
Whether your EV needs a routine checkup or a specific repair, McNeil's Auto Care has the expertise and equipment to handle all aspects of electric vehicle maintenance.
Most EV batteries exceed 10 years of life. The number can vary depending on usage, climate, and charging habits. Regular battery diagnostics can help monitor its health and performance.
EVs use regenerative braking, which reduces wear on brake pads and rotors. However, they still require periodic brake inspections and fluid maintenance to ensure safe operation.
Keep your electric vehicle running at peak performance with expert EV service from McNeil's Auto Care. Our technicians are trained in the latest electric vehicle technology and provide top-quality care for your vehicle. Visit one of our convenient locations or schedule an appointment today!
Questions
EV Repair and Service, answered
- Do electric vehicles need regular maintenance?
- Yes. Electric vehicles need less routine work than gasoline cars because there is no oil to change and fewer moving parts, but they still require inspection of the battery and cooling systems, brakes, tires, suspension and cabin filters. Brake fluid and coolant still degrade with age.
- Is McNeil's certified to work on electric vehicles?
- Yes. McNeil's is EV certified and our technicians are trained on high voltage systems, so electric drivetrains are diagnosed and repaired in house rather than referred elsewhere. Qualifying repairs carry a 36 month, 36,000 mile nationwide warranty through the NAPA AutoCare network.
- Do you work on Teslas?
- Yes. Tesla is one of the marques we specialize in, alongside Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, KIA, Volvo, Chevrolet and GMC electric models. That covers the work owners most often need outside the dealer network, including tires, brakes, suspension, alignment and twelve volt faults, at both shops.
- Why do EV brakes often last longer?
- Electric vehicles use regenerative braking, which slows the car using the motor and recovers energy, so the friction brakes do less work. Pads can last much longer as a result, but the calipers and rotors still need inspection, since lightly used brakes are prone to corrosion and seizing.
- Is servicing an electric vehicle cheaper?
- Routine servicing usually costs less, because there is no oil to change, no exhaust or fuel system, and regenerative braking makes pads last longer. Tires, suspension, alignment and cabin filters still need attention, and high voltage work is priced by the job once diagnosed.
Qualifying repairs are covered nationwide
