Proper lighting is essential for both visibility and safety on the road. Whether it’s your headlights, brake lights, or turn signals, having fully functional lights ensures you can see and be seen. At McNeil's Auto Care, we provide high-quality light services, and our mechanics are here to provide lighting services at all of our locations.
Vehicle lighting includes essential components such as headlights, brake lights, taillights, turn signals, and reverse lights, all of which play a key role in road safety. Lights can burn out, lenses can become damaged, or electrical components may malfunction. Without properly working lights, your ability to see at night or signal to other drivers is impaired, leading to potential safety risks.
At McNeil's Auto Care, we provide a comprehensive range of light services, from bulb replacements to electrical system diagnostics, ensuring your lights are brilliant. Our skilled technicians will inspect your vehicle’s lighting system to ensure it is functioning properly, enhancing your safety and the safety of others on the road.
The time it takes to repair or replace a light varies depending on the type of light and the nature of the repair. Generally, bulb replacements and minor fixes can be completed quickly, with no long wait times.
A dim headlight can be caused by a variety of factors, including a burnt-out bulb, faulty wiring, or a weak battery. Our technicians can diagnose the issue when you bring your car to one of our locations.
The easiest way to check is to have someone else observe your vehicle while you activate each set of lights (headlights, brake lights, turn signals, etc.). Alternatively, you can inspect the lights in a safe environment using your vehicle’s dashboard alerts.
Ensure your vehicle’s lighting system is functioning properly with professional light services from McNeil's Auto Care. We are committed to offering quick, professional, and top-quality services to keep your vehicle safe and fully illuminated. Visit one of our convenient locations or book an appointment today!
Questions
Car Lights, answered
- Why is one of my headlights dimmer than the other?
- A dim headlight can come from a bulb nearing the end of its life, faulty wiring, corroded connections or a weak charging system. Clouded or yellowed lens plastic also cuts output noticeably. Our technicians can diagnose which it is when you bring the vehicle in.
- How long does it take to repair or replace a light?
- It depends on the type of light and what is actually wrong. Straightforward bulb replacements and minor fixes are usually quick. Wiring faults, water ingress in a housing or a failed control module take longer, because the fault has to be traced before anything is replaced.
- How do I know if my lights are working correctly?
- The easiest check is to have someone watch the vehicle while you switch on each set in turn: headlights, high beams, brake lights, turn signals and reverse lights. Dashboard warnings help on some vehicles, but many will not flag a failed brake light or a burnt out bulb.
- Is it illegal to drive with a light out in Utah?
- Required lighting has to be working for a vehicle to be roadworthy, and a burnt out headlight, brake light or turn signal is a common reason for being pulled over. Beyond the citation risk, other drivers cannot read your intentions, which matters most at night and in bad weather.
- How much does it cost to replace a headlight?
- A standard bulb replacement is inexpensive. Vehicles with LED or adaptive headlight units cost considerably more, because the whole assembly rather than a single bulb is replaced. We confirm which type your vehicle uses, and the price, before doing any of the work.
