What the Vehicle ID Inspection Bay includes

  • On-the-Spot Inspection

A technician inspects the vehicle while you are there, rather than booking it in and calling you later with a verdict.

  • Digital Vehicle Report

Photos, notes and measurements from the inspection, so what the technician saw is recorded rather than described.

  • Safety Priority Check

Findings are separated into what affects safety now and what can reasonably wait, so the urgent is not buried in the routine.

  • Diagnostic Direction

Where a fault needs more than a visual check, the inspection points to what to diagnose next instead of guessing at parts.

To help identify or verify your concerns

How McNeil's Auto Care does inspections differently

The ID Bay is a dedicated inspection bay at McNeil’s Auto Care. A technician works through your vehicle comprehensively, and your service advisor then walks you through what they found on screen, with photos and measurements, matched to the concerns you came in with.

The point is that nothing is described to you second-hand. You see the same evidence the technician recorded, you can ask about any of it, and you decide what happens next. The inspection is free and there is no obligation to book any repair afterward.

How it works

  1. Bring the vehicle in

The ID Bay is available at both McNeil's locations, in Riverton and Sandy.

  2. A technician inspects it

The vehicle goes into a dedicated bay and a technician works through it comprehensively, recording photos, notes and measurements as they go.

  3. You walk through the findings

Your service advisor takes you through what the technician found on screen, and explains how each item relates to the concerns you came in with.

  4. You decide

Nothing is authorized until you say so. The inspection is free either way.

Vehicle ID Inspection Bay FAQs

What is the Vehicle ID Inspection Bay?
The ID Bay is a dedicated inspection bay where a technician inspects your vehicle while you are there, and your service advisor then walks you through what they found on screen. The inspection is free, it runs at both McNeil’s shops, and there is no obligation to book any repair afterward.
Is this the same as a full diagnostic?
No. The ID Bay identifies and prioritizes what your vehicle needs and points to what should be diagnosed further. A full diagnostic goes deeper on one fault, using scan tools and manufacturer procedures to find its cause. The inspection often tells you whether that step is needed.
What types of problems can the inspection find?
Wear and condition you can see or measure: brakes, tires, suspension, fluid condition, leaks, belts, lighting and battery health. Where something needs deeper testing, the inspection says so rather than guessing at the cause, and you are shown the evidence either way before you decide anything.
Will I receive photos of what you find?
Yes. The digital vehicle report records photos, notes and measurements from the inspection, so what the technician saw is documented rather than described. You can review it, keep it, and use it to decide what to do next in your own time.
Can I use this before a road trip?
Yes, and it is one of the better reasons to book one. A pre-trip inspection covers the parts most likely to strand you: brakes, tires, fluids, cooling and battery. You get a clear picture of what to sort before you leave and what can wait.
Do you inspect hybrid, EVs and Tesla vehicles?
Yes. McNeil’s is EV certified and our technicians are trained on high voltage systems, so hybrid and electric vehicles are inspected here rather than referred elsewhere. Any repair that follows carries a 36 month, 36,000 mile nationwide warranty.
Can I book an appointment online?
Yes. Booking online takes about a minute and you can do it at any time, or call either shop during opening hours. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and closed at weekends. The inspection itself is free.
Which location offers the ID Inspection Bay?
Both of them. The ID Bay runs at McNeil’s Auto Care in Riverton and at McNeil’s Auto Care in Sandy, on the same terms at either shop. Both are open Monday to Friday, and the inspection is free at both.
